Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the First and the Last,
the Beginning and the End.”
Rev 22.13

GROUP FELLOWSHIP

AUTUMN 2001October 23/25

STUDIES IN HEBREWSWHAT SORT OF PEOPLE OUGHT WE TO BE?

  • A PEOPLE WHO ENJOY GOD AND BLESS OTHERS

HEBREWS 10. 19 – 39 - read the whole passage through.

This passage can be split into four parts:-

  • ENJOY God yourself:

Re-read 10. 19-23

  • What do these verses mean to you? What do they speak about? How precious to you are the truths they contain?
  • What has Jesus done to enable us to enjoy God?
  • Talk about what time you give to "drawing near to God".

Is this a priority in your life?

  • Does "a guilty conscience" (10.22) ever hinder your fellowship with God? Is there an answer to this problem?
  • Do you honestly "enjoy" God? – in what ways? How? When?

  • ENCOURAGE others:

Re-read 10.24-25

  • What do these verses say to us?
  • How much should our Christian lives be concerned with helping others? How much does my Christian life centre around me and my good? (see Acts 10. 38; Ephesians 2.10)
  • How important are our times of "meeting together"? And why? In what ways are these times of meeting an opportunity to bless others?
  • What "Day" is approaching? Does that affect you?

3. END with sin:

Re-read 10.26-31

  • How do these challenging verses encourage us to be more serious in our rejection of the sinfulness in which we are constantly tempted to dabble? What impact do these verses make on you?

(BE CHALLENGED…..! DON’T BE CONDEMNED!)

  • ENDURE (persevere!) and be saved:

Re-read 10.32 –39

  • What is the impact of these verses on you?
  • What part can "looking back" over our past Christian lives play in helping us in the present? (10.32-35)
  • What incentive is to be found in "looking forward" to the time of Jesus’ second coming? Do you ever stop to think of your life in the light of that Day? (10.35 – 39)
  • Who do you most want to please in life? (10.37-39)

POINTS TO PONDER:

  • How much am I positively, unashamedly ENJOYING GOD MYSELF?
  • How much am I deliberately and continually BLESSING OTHERS?
