Uncle Tom’s -
The development of Uncle Tom’s is going really well. The venue is now being used every day for a whole host of activities. Some of these include: Children’s Clubs, Youth clubs, youth groups, parent and toddler coffee mornings, Bethany Care coffee mornings, contemporary worship, world cup viewing, Alpha groups and many other meetings and gatherings.
Stage 1 was completed in November 2004 and Stage 2 is nearing completion. We hope to officially open the upstairs bit or Conference Suite during the first months of 2007. We are amazingly grateful to Onyx for the grant they provided to enable Phase 2 to be completed.
Stage 1 was by far the largest part of the development and it took us 30 months as the work was fully undertaken by Church Members working during evenings and Saturdays. A few Church members were able to use their trade skills to also work during the days and to manage the project. We are immensely grateful to everyone who helped in any manner to get us to this stage. COMPLETED
Stage 2 is the development of the upstairs flat into a Conference Centre. The Conference Centre will have two large meetings rooms, one smaller room and a small foyer. There will be an additional staircase to the first floor along with a lift. COMPLETION DATE EARLY 2007
Stage 3 is the building of the permanent link between Uncle Tom’s and the Church hall. As can be seen in the picture above, this will make a big difference to the whole site and will create a new front door for the church. This will also involve the moving of the Church kitchen
Stage 4 is the development of the rear beer stores. We are hoping to use these as lounges, meeting rooms or perhaps even a computer suite. This would also include the development of the kitchen in Uncle Toms
Stage 5 will be the development of the outside grounds, hopefully making a garden area at the back of the premises and developing the grassed area and car park at the front.
So keep looking out for further work taking place at Uncle Tom’s
