Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the First and the Last,
the Beginning and the End.”

CELL GUIDE No 5 – Summer 2003 – How do I respond?
WELCOME
Meal Invite – Hugh Grant has paid £200,000 for him and 5 friends to have dinner with Elton John! Who would you most want to have dinner with?
Nose Demolition Get each group member in turn to kneel down on the floor, and place a small object e.g. a building block in front of them a set distance away. The distance away is the distance between their elbow and finger-tip (get them to put their elbows against their knees to measure this). Once the block is in position, the object of the game is, without moving position, to lean over and knock the block over with their nose, without toppling over themselves.
WORSHIP
On a big piece of paper – invite people to draw the things that they really enjoy, or take for granted (but are still good!) – then get some thick bits of black card to put over their picture (as in cell bars) and ask the group members what it would mean if we weren’t free to enjoy the things they had drawn.
What does it mean to be set free from Jesus…
Thank Jesus
WORD
Read Mark 12:1-11 (– make it as visual/active as poss.)
Talk about the passage. Ask - why Jesus told it then? What it says to us today? What can we learn from it etc?
Read Mark 12:12 “They wanted to lynch him then and there but, intimidated by public opinion, held back. They knew the story was about them. They got away from there as fast as they could”
What do you do differently because of public opinion? Or at least the opinion of your friends? (for good or bad)
“They knew the story” – do you? What difference does it make?
The “got away as fast as they could” – what is your response to what God has done for you? Why? What response does God want from you?
WITNESS
Do the stand up prayer – praying for one another – together or separately… Pray for each other to respond to God’s love…
