Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the First and the Last,
the Beginning and the End.”

CELL GUIDE No 3 – Summer 2003 – Who does it belong to?
WELCOME
On a large piece of paper / card each person draws a talent that they do not have – but would like to have.
WORSHIP
Psalm Word Association
Read out a praise psalm to the group and stop often at appropriate words. Each time you stop, go round the group and get each member to think of and say a similar word which amplifies the meaning of the word in the psalm. Don’t worry about going round the group more than once if there are plenty of word associations coming out. Each time you stop, ask a different member of the group to start with the word association.
WORD
On large piece of card / paper get the group to draw all the things that are most important to them. (e.g. tv / looks / friends / family / holidays)
Read Mark 10:17-27
Various questions….
Why did Jesus tell the man to give away his possessions?
(Is this more about money or trust)
What would Jesus ask you to give up? Which things that have been drawn would Jesus ask you to give up?
What does that mean in reality – how can you give up friends?
Status? Reputation? Etc. (This is the crucial bit!!)
One way of thinking – is to ask “who does it/they belong to?” If all things belong to God – surely we can give them to him – for he will give us far more back.
It is easier… can the group come up with similar (impossible) phrases – perhaps bizarre ones
So if it is impossible… why does Jesus bother? (This is the other crucial bit!!!)

WITNESS
Youth Holiday – there are plenty of spaces left – pick up your reminder today – with info about some of the programme.
Is there a friend or two you could invite to the holiday. (Talk and pray about this together)
