Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the First and the Last,
the Beginning and the End.”
Rev 22.13
CELL GUIDE No 2 – Summer 2003 – What’s really important?
WELCOME
Play a version of call my bluff – where everyone has to make up a definition for each of the following words – then you read the mall out and each person guess which one is the correct definition…
1) BORBORYGMUS - Rumbling in the guts.
2) BOONDOGGLE – an unnecessary project
3) BRUXER - Someone who habitually and involuntarily grinds their teeth
WORSHIP
Be thankful… for whatever day everyone has had…and try and be thankful for each other…
Be thankful that there are people who think you are important
WORD
How does the world measure greatness?
How do your friends measure greatness?
Mark 9:33 After they arrived at Capernaum, Jesus and his disciples settled in the house where they would be staying. Jesus asked them, “What were you discussing out on the road?” 34But they didn’t answer, because they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest. 35He sat down and called the twelve disciples over to him. Then he said, “Anyone who wants to be the first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”

How can we be great? Who would see us as great? Who wouldn’t?
How can we encourage each other to go after this type of greatness?

Jesus spoke a few times about children….
Mark 9:36 Then he put a little child among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, 37“Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes my Father who sent me.”
Mark 10:13 One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch them and bless them, but the disciples told them not to bother him. 14But when Jesus saw what was happening, he was very displeased with his disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15I assure you, anyone who doesn’t have their kind of faith will never get into the Kingdom of God.” 16Then he took the children into his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.
What can we learn from children – their attitude, their faith, enthusiasm that we could learn?
How could we encourage each other to be like children?
WITNESS
Each person writes down some of the things they are going to do to encourage others to be ‘great’ and ‘like a child’.
Pray and commit selves to doing it!
Give each other permission to be encouraged…
