Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the First and the Last,
the Beginning and the End.”

More & More

Welcome
Play a he who laughs last wins game. Take it in turns to say a word (& make a face) Could always make it 'out if you smile'

Worship
What makes you happy?
Everyone writes down one or two things - put into middle. Work out whose is whose.
Thank God for all these good things

Word
(Having told them all why he visited / hasn’t visited /what he did when he was there etc Paul gets down to writing some other stuff to the Thessies!)

Read 1 Thess 4:1-12

Verse1-2 'Live in a way that pleases God'
How does Paul say we can do this?
What other ways are there?
How successful are we at doing these?

Verse 3-8 ‘Control your body’
This was a major issue for the Thessalonian church… how much do you think it is an issue for us in 2005
(Sexual self-control: thoughts, words & behaviour – including dress, jokes, pornography etc.)

What help does God give us to do this?

Verse 9-12 Work: why were some of the Thessalonians not wanting to work?
Jesus would return soon, more important things to do etc.

Verse 11 literally says “Our ambition should be to have no ambition!” What's this all about? What does it say for your career plans etc.

What sort of life do we need to live for people to respect us?
  What does this mean?
  Does it happen?

Witness
Read again 1,2 & 9,10 What phrase is repeated?
You can always do more
Pray for each other to grow and mature. And pray that each other will gain respect of others especially those you are praying for
