the First and the Last,

Riots & Reputation
Welcome
Make sure everyone knows each other
‘The Name Game’.
Everyone write a name of a famous person (don’t let anyone see), then write on a bit of paper and stick it on the person to the left’s head (so everyone can see it except them). Then you go round the group trying to guess who your person is by asking one question with a yes or no answer. First to guess right wins.
Worship
Be thankful for one another. What you may have already shared together (camps, friendships, schools) and what might come along (thank God for future friendships)
Word
(Our sessions this term will be based in Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians. This session is about his first visit there)
Read Acts 17:1-10
Get to grips with what happened.
Did Paul want to cause trouble? Why did the riot start?
Could Paul have acted differently to stop the riot starting?
What was Paul doing in the synagogue?
Imagine what sort of things he said – Sabbath by Sabbath… (the things that managed to prove…
What reputation do you have?
Look at verse 6 to see what reputation Paul & Silas had?
How had they got this reputation?
How could you have a similar reputation…?
What sort of reputation do you want amongst your friends
Talk together about qualities of friendship, but also the ‘taste’ that you leave behind. Ie when you leave a group of your friends, have you left a good taste? How is this possible, what does it man in practice
Witness
Pray for one another to be people of good reputation!
