Health and Safety Policy
(Abridged version - The full policy is displayed in the Church Office)
The Church recognises and accepts its responsibility to provide, as far as is reasonably
practical, a safe and healthy environment to ensure the good welfare of all using
its premises.
In the execution of its responsibility for these things, the Church will appoint
a Health and Safety Officer to act for it:
- in the oversight of:
- the overall maintenance of church buildings in a safe condition
- the ongoing safety of all the church’s equipment and furnishings
- all matters of Fire Safety
- First Aid provision and Accident Procedures
- compliance with the Food Safety Regulations
- the adequate education of Church members in all safety matters.
(The Church remains responsible for these matters; the Safety Officer will act for
the Church in them.)
- in ensuring:
- that the premises are maintained in a safe condition
- the ongoing safety of the premises for all those who are employed by the Church or
who attend it.
- that the relevant Safety Regulations are prominently displayed.
All Employees, Volunteers or Helpers are required to:
- thoroughly familiarise themselves with the Church’s Health and Safety Policy
- at all times take every reasonable care to implement it:
- by co-operating with the Church in its policy
- by being careful at all times for their own safety and that of others
- by not misusing any equipment provided, and monitoring its maintenance in a safe
condition
- by reporting all accidents as required
- by alerting the Safety Officer to any risk or hazards of which they become aware.
