THE PRINCIPLE

Cosham Baptist Church, in all fields of its activities, is committed to a policy of not discriminating against people purely on the basis of gender, colour, nationality, ethnic or marital status, disability or age.  Neither will there be any unreasonable discrimination against a person on the basis of religious belief or sexual orientation unless the development or maintenance of our Christian ethos or compliance with our Evangelical Christian doctrine makes it necessary to define genuine occupational requirements (GOR).

The Implementation

All reasonable care will be taken in all appointments to see that no discrimination is made on the grounds stated above; and that everyone is given equal opportunity at every stage of the appointment process.

• All those employed and serving the Church will be made familiar with the Church’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
• The Minister and Church Officers, who are responsible for the overseeing of the functioning of the Church Meeting (the appointing body of a Baptist Church), will ensure compliance with the Church’s policy on equal opportunity in all the Church’s appointments.
• The church Policy and its procedures will be kept under review to ensure compliance to the principles of equal opportunity.
