EDGE Spring 2007  - Telling the Easter Story

Welcome

Tell stories together? Either listen to true ones from each other – things people have got up to since you last met. Or make it into a game with each person saying a phrase – before passing on to the next person. Or how about each person finishing off their little phrase with “and then suddenly…”

Worship

Tell each other the Easter story. Talk of your favourite bit… or the bit you don’t get. Stop nd give thanks to God for that first Easter especially the willingness of the Father to stand aside and let his Son suffer and die, but also the obedience of Jesus.

Word

Remind one another of the 3 story idea. (I get to know God’s story, it becomes part of my story, I listen to other people’s stories and try to bring them closer to my story and God’s story)

Practice telling one another the story of Easter.

Take different gospel accounts of Jesus’ crucifixion and death and tell one another God’s story.

Then tell the story making it personal, how you fit in to it. Perhaps how you see yourself like one of the thieve, or a guard or a woman standing nearby. Perhaps simply how you understood it for the first time. Perhaps how you remind yourself of the story today.

How do your friends think of Easter? What part of their story can you connect this to? What could you tell about eggs or chocolate or new life?
